Samantha Béart, renowned for her portrayal of Karlach in “Baldur’s Gate 3,” has recently taken a firm stance regarding involvement in projects inspired by “Disco Elysium.” In a tweet dated February 11, 2025, Béart stated:

This declaration underscores her respect for Kurvitz’s creative vision and her unwillingness to participate in derivative works lacking his involvement.
Robert Kurvitz, the lead writer and designer of “Disco Elysium,” co-founded the original development studio, ZA/UM. Following internal disputes, Kurvitz departed from ZA/UM and established a new studio named Red Info, alongside lead artist Aleksander Rostov. Despite these developments, recent announcements of “Disco Elysium” spiritual successors have notably excluded Kurvitz’s participation.
Béart’s refusal to engage with such projects highlights her commitment to authentic storytelling and the importance of original creators in the continuation of their narratives. Her stance serves as a reminder of the value of creative integrity in the gaming industry.
